Physician Assistant and Nurse Practitioner Emergency Medicine Fellowships
BlueWater Health offers a 54 week Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner emergency medicine fellowship in Brunswick, Maine. We also offer Rural EM Fellowships at our critical access hospitals. The fellowships are designed to expand and refine the specialized skills and clinical expertise necessary for APPs to excel in a fast paced, diverse, and ever changing clinical setting. There is a great need for emergency medicine providers around the country, and our program was created to help fill that need.
The program consists of direct patient care experience in our hospitals, didactic instruction at our headquarters, and mentorship by our providers.
Program Goals
- Increase competency in common emergency medicine prodcedures
- Expand clinical knowledge of emergency medicine, acute care medicine, and observation medicine
- Foster clinical confidence in decsion making through experience and mentorship
- Instill team based emergency medicine practice
Class Size
BlueWater accepts two applicants each year to its PA/NP Emergency Medicine Fellowship in Brunswick. The fellowship orientation begins in mid September followed by one year of clinical duties from 10/1 through 9/30.
The Rural EM Fellowship has a year round, rolling admission process with a maximum of one APP per critical access hospital.
Graduation
Upon graduation, fellows receive a certificate of completion for the 54 week postgraduate fellowship in emergency medicine. This certification indicates a high level of knowledge and skill in emergency medicine, making fellows much more competitive for emergency medicine postions around the country.
